This was the sunset we had every evening during our vacation on Langkawi, the Malaysian Island. I’d mounted my camera with the Canon EF 17-40mm L f/4 USM wide angle lens on my tripod to create this five shot HDR at a f/11 aperture. Langkawi was totally relaxing and these sunsets did contribute to that for sure.

During our vacation in Malaysia our first objective was relaxing. The second objective was experimenting with HDR photography. Here are some of the first results in Kuala Lumpur. The famous Petronas Towers in Kuala Lumpur. This photograph is taken with my Canon TS-E 24mm f/3.5 L II tilt-shift lens from the Skybar in the Traders Hotel. A lovely view from there.

Today, I had to give a presentation (on mutual fund selection) in Leeuwarden. On the way back, I drove via the Afsluitdijk (see on maps). Standing on the bridge accros the A7 motorway, I had this marvelous view of the dike and motorway disappearing into the horizon. Lovely dreary autumn weather.

The first signs that autumn is approaching. In the forrest of Kamphoeve near Hilversum my brother and I found this year’s first mushrooms and different kinds of newly grown mosses.

For this photograph I used Soligor Extension Tubes. These extension tubes reduce the minimum focus distance for lenses which allows for close-up photography and magnification of the subject. The photo was shot with the Canon EF 24-105mm f/4 L IS USM in combination with a 20mm extension tube. I used an f/11 apertures for the right depth of field.

I went to New York for a couple of days to meet some hedge fund managers. One morning before the meetings I stood up early to capture the daybreak and commute activity in the city. For that I had brought my camera equiped with the Canon EF 17-40mm L f/4 USM wide angle lens and the standard Canon EF 24-105mm L f/4 IS USM.

The New York taxicab is probably one of the most well-known means of commuting. I’d tried to capture the taxi’s movement by using a relatively long exposure of 1/13 sec. with my 17-40mm f/4 wide angle lens.

Altogether a very succesful trip to New York.
